SO..
We drove to Madrid.. and it took us... 10 hours.. instead of a 3 hour train ride. We are so stupid.. Actually it was a lot of fun. We made sandwiches in the car.. spilled iced tea and wine in the back seat... got lost which added 2 hours to our original trip of 8 hours. And ended up at the wrong hostel. Wonderful. Good times.
The next morning we went to El Escorial and La Valle de los Caidos.. A royal palace and a church/memorial site. Franco and many of his men were burried at los Caidos. Daniel went for a hike.. broke his flip flops, aquired 30-50 thorns in his feet and hands... fun.
